Symptoms

The most common early signs involve memory: forgetting recent events or appointments, losing objects… The language is altered, it is difficult to find the right word. Focusing attention becomes more and more complicated. There is confusion with time and place. Psychologically the patient changes: he becomes more irritable, anxious and sometimes depressive. He loses interest in habitual activities and becomes apathetic.

The slow inevitable evolution is worsening. The memory is profoundly affected altering recent events as well as older ones. Language becomes poorer and slowly disappears. The patient is completely lost in time and place. He does not recognize people around him, even loved ones. Daily tasks, even the most simple, become impossible to complete. Behavior and psyche are more and more disturbed: agitation, aggression, ambulation, delirium…
